#Goals
I swear that everyone is just using #Goals for stupid things these days... what someone is wearing, what they are having for dinner, how they want there living room to look... but what about real life goals, do they not matter to anyone anymore?
Surely having life goals are really important to give you structure to your life... if you haven't got something to head for then what is the point? Even it is short term life goals it's something... maybe it's what I want to achieve by the end of the week, next month, next year or even further into the future. I get that is can be scary, but for any young person where you see a lot of what seems to be the perfect life on social media I think it is important to set yourself realistic goals that aren't just about holidays, perfect bodies and endless cocktails. Now this doesn't have to be boring, or well within your comfort zone so you know they achievable, it can be something that is right outside the box you just need to reach for it.
I have ALWAYS set myself goals.... even it is something really small like what I am going to draw for my next wildlife piece or something at home like doing up my kitchen (which we are doing at the moment at it only seemed like 5 minutes ago that we decided to do it and now it's nearly finished!! it's very exciting but that is another story to tell at a later date).
This year I set myself 2 main #Goals
1. Go Big... So recently Matthew and I went to London to meet up with someone of his fellow James Bond fans and we went to a number of sites in London that had connections to bond... one being the National Portrait and I saw the most magnificent painting... and this was it....
.... for me this was a light bulb moment, I needed to go bigger and bolder. I know this painting wasn't in a medium that I use or even my typical subject but it tugged on my heart strings, I fell in love instantly with its grandeur, the pose of the horse was powerful and mesmerising. It filled the room and could be seen right from the front entrance as you walked up the staircase.
I was hooked... all day whilst walking round looking at other random things to do with bond I was still thinking about this painting, how could I do or re-create that feeling I just felt. And the only option was to try something new, out of my comfort zone of small scale drawings and go as long as I could within reason. Obviously I couldn't do it the same size as the piece I saw it was huge but I will do my best.
2. Get Good and be known... This is obviously a long term mission, I want to be known for what I do. I don't mean get famous but I would like to be acknowledged within the industry to show my passion for the work I do. This isn't just a passing phase or something I am just doing for the sake of it, this is my life, my career and my passion. I will continue to do as my many shows/ events as possible with the ultimate #goal of going to the big Game and Country Fairs next year, but before I do that I would like to have a larger portfolio with wider variety of work. I also believe I have a long way to go still to get good, yes I have learned a hell of a lot over the lat 18 months and my work now far exceeds what I was producing then but I still have room for improvement. I will continue to work hard to be up with the pro's very soon!
So cheers to #Goals lets go big, get good and be known! I would love to know what your goals are in the comments no matter how big or small!
